My Grandma Mim’s house was full of them. She was a bit of a collector. She would rescue chairs from family members, estate sales, and the occasional curb. She couldn’t bear to let anything go to waste. 

I see a lot of Mim in myself. Much like in my own home, piles of creative projects covered her floors (and sometimes the ceiling).

I refinished Mim’s chairs with help from my dad in order to continue their legacy of memory-making. During the process, we got a glimpse into the storied history of these chairs and the many hands that have cared for them throughout their lifetime as evidenced by layers of paint, nails, glue, and repairs. We care about honoring the work of the craftsperson by continuing the life of their work. We believe the connections we make are critical for a fulfilling life and thriving communities.
